Music Composition

As I mentioned in the 5line thread, I've twiddling with music composition lately.
For a while I was just playing with as many old VSTs as I could get my hands on from Archive.org and seeing what sounds I could get out of them but, ah...none of it sounded very good.
So, seeing as I'm clearly not some kind of beefheartesque savant that can conjure an entire system of music from first principles, I figured I'd study music theory for a while first, starting with Stone's "Music Theory and Composition".
Feel free to post about anything music or composition related ITT.
